At Play Amidst the Strangeness and the Charm: for Black \u201cMystery\u201d Month 2024<\/p>\n
Is there a 30,000 foot view
\nAbove the burning and banned books
\nThe global rise of Nationalisms
\nAnd the desire for new Green Books
\nFor Black, Brown, Purple, and Rainbow people?<\/p>\n
Above the Operation Wet Back interment camps
\nAnd gated country
\nWith gated communities
\nAnd gerrymandered voting districts
\nWhere guns speak louder than people
\nAnd Headdresses, fezes, or yarmulkes
\nAre tantamount to wearing targets
\nAnd, a pregnant woman has no choice?<\/p>\n
Is there a place where our greatest thoughts and Ideals have gone
\nAt play amidst the strangeness and the charm?
\nA\u00a0 Black Mystery poem
\nFor Black \u201cMystery\u201d month
\nBecause suddenly it\u2019s becoming forbidden to be taught about ourselves<\/p>\n
As if words hurled at eternity
\nCan be made to disappear into Black Holes
\nTo be forgotten and spaghettified
\nPassing the event horizons of cosmic shredders.<\/p>\n
May we, Ray Bradbury-like, become the books they burn
\nBefore 2024 becomes 1984
\nAnd we all die because of 451 degrees of separation
\nThe resulting carbon emissions hastening global warming.<\/p>\n
