For Black History Month 2021<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

There are \u00a0at least two America\u2019s waiting for a shot in the arm <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Dolt 45 is gone but definitely not forgotten<\/em><\/strong>
Citric Acid in exile\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Able was he err he saw Mar LargoHis <\/em><\/strong>
Waterloo was Georgia<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

But he still dreams of future victories<\/em><\/strong>
His acolytes rioting in disbelief\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Privileged revolutionaries granted organic food in jail<\/em><\/strong>
And freedom to leave the country for vacation\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
With pending federal charges.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Effective immediately I\u2019m advising all black and brown people\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
All of the huddled masses yearning to be free approaching our southern boarder\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
And all of The Dreamers awaiting a path to citizenship\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
to become:<\/em><\/strong>
vegan Shamans\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
who need organic food while jailed<\/em><\/strong>
AND to have previously planned vacations outside of the country<\/em><\/strong>
Before they \u201cALLEGEDLY\u201d commit federal crimes\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Recorded by multiple cameras<\/em><\/strong>
Resulting in death and mayhem<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

That is as\u00a0long as they are not killed as they are being apprehended<\/em><\/strong>
Shot in their own homes\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Murdered in parks at twelve years old for playing with a toy gun<\/em><\/strong>
Or, killed while crossing the boarder<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

No!<\/em><\/strong>
It\u2019s time to sing Kum Ba Yah<\/em><\/strong>
Or to hold hands and sing We Are the World<\/em><\/strong>
Democracy isn\u2019t dead\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Yet<\/em><\/strong>
It just has a bad case of COVID-19 \u2014 the American mutation<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I\u2019ve heard people say forgive and forget while<\/em><\/strong>
Carrying the confederate flag\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Which apparently hasn\u2019t been forgotten<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

And yell JEWISH SPACE LASERS<\/em><\/strong>
And like ideas that once fueled a Holocaust\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Which apparently has been forgotten<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I\u2019ve heard it said \u201creach across the aisle\u201d<\/em><\/strong>
While denying the rise of homegrown domestic terrorism<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We Shall Overcome is still sung in the future tense<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Take your foot out of my ass<\/em><\/strong>
And I\u2019ll find it much easier to shake hands<\/em><\/strong>
Stop using my heart as a scabbard\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
If you want me to find a way to love<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What has to happen before\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Enough has happened?<\/em><\/strong>
Give me my flowers while I yet live<\/em><\/strong>
And sing to me before my elements become five<\/em><\/strong>
Become dust to dust<\/em><\/strong>
And my breath merges with the atmosphere<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I don\u2019t want to be free to carry a gun through a metal detector<\/em><\/strong>
I want to be free enough not to be stopped and frisked while not carrying a gun<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I don\u2019t want to become a Congress person with only a G.E.D.<\/em><\/strong>
But I would like retuning citizens to have the right to vote and become gainfully employed\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Once they have paid their debt to society.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Or, are there limits to forgiving and forgetting?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

And while we are at it<\/em><\/strong>
Feed the jailed organic food, too,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Like they feed Jake Angeli The QAnon Shaman<\/em><\/strong>
The men and women who will do more time for a bag of marijuana\u00a0Than men and women who tried to steal America<\/em><\/strong>
Subvert the political system<\/em><\/strong>
And disenfranchise citizens who voted legitimately\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
And had no criminal records at all.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I\u2019d like to ask why making it easier to vote and increasing civic participation in a representative democracy is a bad thing?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I\u2019d like to ask why there are over 100 new state wide initiatives to limit access to voting now being proposed?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Is it because the road blocks to the ballot\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
And the gerrymandering now in place\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Weren\u2019t enough to stop Stacy Abrahams from doing her best imitation\u00a0Of Fanny Lou Hamer?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

It must have been voter fraud\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
How could determined grass roots door to door organizing\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Overcome all of the obstacles to voting\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Erected in the last decade<\/em><\/strong>
And flip a southern state from red to blue?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n


Somebody cheated<\/em><\/strong>
Screamed the \u201csomebodies\u201d who have always cheated<\/em><\/strong>
And failed\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
This time<\/em><\/strong>
To institute a 21st century neo-reconstruction\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Stay together children\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For the barbed wire now ringing The Capitol<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For Juneteenth<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For Stacy\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For Fanny Lou<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For Ida B. Wells and soulful women with crowns who saved America and sent the dreaming down to us<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For Rosa Parks\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For those who believe in Homeric gods that can fix elections\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
but allow COVID-19 to eat us alive<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For hypocritical evangelical preachers still wondering why\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
What god whispered in their ear didn\u2019t come to pass\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
And for their flocks that think that god cares more about an election than we should.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For New Age peaceniks who think\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
\u201cIt\u2019s ALL in our minds\u201d<\/em><\/strong>
Or the result of a long acting Pluto transit<\/em><\/strong>
Namaste<\/em><\/strong>
All of the positive thinking<\/em><\/strong>
And all of the granola\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Doesn\u2019t seem to be saving California<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

And if you had read the myth you would know that\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
Spring returns to the earth<\/em><\/strong>
When kidnapped children are allowed to return\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
And embrace their mother<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Free The Daughters of the Earth!<\/em><\/strong>
And let the springtime return.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For the summer peaceful protestors attacked in Lafayette Park to make way for a photo opportunity in front of a church<\/em><\/strong>
An upside down Bible\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
In an Orange spray tanned hand<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

While their wrathful winter counterparts were allowed to pillage the people\u2019s house<\/em><\/strong>
And smear their excrement on its walls\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
As 45 watched in glee<\/em><\/strong>
Refusing to call in the National Guard<\/em><\/strong>
Rioters who had enough enthusiasm to cause mayhem\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
But not enough civic mindedness to have voted.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For the branches of government that can\u2019t pass a stimulus bill<\/em><\/strong>
But can rise to censure those who vote their conscience<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For those who can only speak their minds in secret\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
But pander to the ignorant mobs when their names have to be attached<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For the teachers who are dying of COVID-19 for which there is not an accurate count<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

And for the homeschooled children forgetting what they already didn\u2019t know<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

And most especially\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>
For those who still think that on January 20th \u201cWE\u201d won.<\/em><\/strong>
In a divided house<\/em><\/strong>
With a divided house<\/em><\/strong>
That cannot stand<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
