Friday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0night we get to hear of the passing of Yale University honorary Doctor of Music, one\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Riley King<\/b><\/span><\/span>; co-chair (my 1981 album tells me) of the Foundation for the Advancement of Inmate Rehabilitation and Recreation (FAIRR). In 1971 \u2013 the year after he won a Grammy Award (his first) for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The Thrill is Gone<\/i><\/span><\/span>, his\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Live in Cook County Jail<\/i><\/span><\/span>\u00a0became his best-selling album, identifying him with the cause of prisoners\u2019 rights. His 1996 autobiography is titled\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Blues All Around Me<\/i><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
